Teamwork

Grow closer in a group as we put others first, lay down our preferences, and love one another well. Learn to follow the Lord step-by-step with increasing flexibility, perseverance, and patience.

  • Staying Together

As a team, we will stay together in the wilderness. This means that on the water, on portages, and in camp you should be able to see and hear the group. This is to prevent a missing camper, to be ready to help when someone needs, and to rely on the greater strength of the team.

  • Listening to the Guide

The team will need to rely on the experience and expertise of the guide in large and small decisions. This means promptly following the guide’s instructions for the safety and unity of the group. This is vital in order to not unduly endanger the group in the wilderness.

  • Camp Chores

This is a working vacation, but a fun and beautiful and life-transforming one! Each person will help with camp chores and have tasks to do alone or in a group. The allows people to learn the skills and also lightens the load so we can eat, sleep, and relax sooner and longer!

Keeping it real…

A struggle: People will get tired, selfish, and sore. This is normal. But when we stop looking out for each other, doing our work, or asking for help, the whole team suffers. On trail this not only make things miserable, but unsafe.

An invitation: As we let go of worry about what we want and prefer, there is in invitation to letting the Lord take care of us as we all learn live as a team. It is a daily surrender to be fully present as a valued member of the team.

A hope: As we learn to work together, it is amazing to see the team problem-solve and take care of each other. It is a beautiful, messy, practical picture of the Body of Christ humbly working together in the mud, heat, and storm.
